Baptisms
Baptisms take place on the last Sunday of each month. Please call the Rectory to register.
Parents who are presenting their first child for Baptism are asked to attend our Baptismal Class. These classes are a review of the meaning of the responsibilities to the baptized child.
This Baptism Class may be attended any time during the pregnancy. St. Anthony of Padua offers this class throughout the year, but couples are free to attend a class at any parish that is more convenient, regardless of where the Baptism is being celebrated.
Before choosing godparents, attend one of these classes to make sure that you know what the qualifications are to be a godparent.
Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults
Adults wishing to become members of the Roman Catholic Church must undergo a period of study prior to their reception into the Church. Please call the Rectory or consult the parish bulletin for information regarding these sessions.
These sessions are also open to Catholics who wish to review the teachings of our faith as a refresher or to deepen their understanding of what the Lord has given to us in light of what is happening in our society and world today.
Older children who have not been baptized or catechized have similar sessions which are handled by the joint DRE of St. Anthony of Padua and Blessed Trinity Parishes.
Confirmation
Confirmation is received during a child’s 8th grade year. Preparation takes place either through our parochial school or PSR.
Adults who are not confirmed, but would like to be, are asked to call the Rectory to discuss the preparation. Every Catholic adult should be confirmed — it is such an important part of our spiritual life and a great gift of Christ to us.
Sacrament of Matrimony
St. Anthony of Padua Parish follows the Diocesan policy of marriage preparation. This policy requires a six month preparation period, which includes consultation with the priest and group preparation study. It is essential that couples notify the priest before any arrangements are made.
St. Anthony of Padua Parish School of Religion (P.S.R.)
P.S.R. classes are held Sunday mornings from 9:20 to 10:20 am We always remind parents that you are the FIRST RELIGIOUS EDUCATORS of your children. The responsibility of sharing the faith with your children rests with you. St. Anthony of Padua Parish will help you carry out this serious obligation and support you. The example of parents is so important in the lives of the children. If your children see you pray, they will pray. If your children see you attend Mass and receive Holy Communion, they will attend Mass and receive Holy Communion. If you do not pray, attend Mass, and receive Holy Communion, no teacher can convince your children that prayer, Mass, and Holy Communion are important.
